  1. I converted an xvid movie into a dvd by using virtualdub to get the wav file. I then used TMPGenc to change it into an mpg. I created a menu with the TMPGenc authoring tool, and when i play it on my RCA dcr220 standalone dvd player, it skips and goes out of sync (usually right when a chapter begins or ends) I know its not the disks im using cuz ive used them all the time and they work fine. I was able to play the movie fine on my ps2 dvd player and my cousins dvd player, but not the one in my living room (RCA dcr220). Since this is the first xvid i converted to dvd, im not sure if my dvd player can handle it. It works perfectly with divx to dvd. Im trying to pinpoint whats the problem. I think my dvd player is too cheap to play them, but then I would argue that it plays divx movies fine. If anyone has any info, thanx

Do you mean DVD's converted from divx?

A DVD converted from xvid or from divx will (for playback purposes) be the same, assuming you used the same methods. If it plays fine on other players then it's likely the disks that your DVD player doesn't like much. Try a different/better brand.

  3. I did one thing different when burning a divx movie. I didn't add chapters.

The dvd-r's I used worked with the divx movies I burned, So i dont think its them. I even tried burning at 1x speed to see if that would do it, but no go.
