I have a few AAC files that show up as blank document icons. They won't open in iTunes, and only open in VLC. Is there any way to convert them to MP3s or something? Thanks

you can't import them into iTunes?
What version of iTunes do you have? -
what is the file extension on these aac files?
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

i have the newest iTunes, and the extension is .aac
it's wierd as hell, i know. they wont open in quicktime either. -
if you change the tag to .mp4, does iTunes now let you import them?
-
no good. they imported, but they didnt play. also, the time of the song said "not available"
-
Play them in VLC again, but this time, while one plays,
go to the Window-->Messages command and copy the information
listed in the pop up there as it plays the track. Post it back here,
so that we can figure out what is going on. -
sounds liek some odd file type that happened to get renamed to .aac
did you say where you got these files from?!
If you did, i missed it. -

things I see
/Users/daveconte/Desktop/Torrents/FF8/FF8/CD1/10 - ____ - Force Your Way.aac'
2. /Torrents/
hahahahahahaha .... if you have no luck taking the spaces and characters out id say blame the person who encoded them! -
bit torrent, ftp, same difference
yeah, nothing worked. how lame. oh well, toss that crap out the window. thanks for the help anyway =) -

As far as I can see the poster was unable to play his song in iTunes, but was able to play it in VLC.
Regarding those 'errors', in my experience you get those no matter what type of file you are playing in VLC. That's the way VLC finds the appropriate decoder (by trying them all). -

Currently, only VLC 0.71a handles these types of files, as the HE spec
hasn't been assimilated into QT yet.....
What..? Don't blame me because I happen to "get out" more....
