  1. Any programs out there that can edit/convert wide screen to full screen ... there are several that will allow you to chop sides by varying amounts. But none that allow on the fly or preset panning to follow the action

  2. That's right. There is no proggy that can do real Pan and scan.

    There is a plugin for VirtualDub called Pan:

    http://sauron.mordor.net/dgraft/pan.html

    This does a primitive version of what you want to do. It won't track the movement automatically, you have to tell it to pan in a direction at a certain rate, but you might find it useful
