  1. After reading reviews, I went out and picked up 35 dollar koss kd305, supposed to play everything you throw at it.

Not playing svcd's, any of them, I have over 100 svcd discs, have tested about 20 on 2 different types of cdr media, none have played. Get Invalid disc error.

What is going on? Is my player the only koss kd305 That wont play friggin svcd's?

  2. Plus, I download the official firmware from the site, reviewers say this dvd player is MADE for firmware updates.

I burn w/nero, iso, and the dvd player opens up "no rom files to display" or whatever the crap error message is.

What is going on? ITs like this really isnt a koss kd305

Might be your burning software. I found that NTI CD-Maker burns SVCD that are unplayable on most DVD players. It puts a Karaeoke directory into the SVCD structure, that mght be why. I have a KD305 and it plays SVCD well, just be sure to use the standard 44,100 audio sample rate.

Look at the rest of the Koss players.

We bought one at work that would not play VCD or SVCD, read the reviews, found a key sequence that enabled it. Admittedly, it may not work for your mod, but it did for ours.

It is so many strokes and so random seeming that it seems impossible to have been just fooling with the remote. Must have been someone on the inside posting to enable a forbidden feature, built into the unit, but not licensed or something.

    Cheers,

    George

  7. Thanks for the tips, all my svcd's work in my apex fine, and any other dvd player I try them in. Ill look for some modifications i can punch in w/my remote, if nobody comes up w/anything else, ill take it back tomorrow, and try to see if it was defective.

  8. Ok, update, I took it back, told them it wouldnt play vcd's, she said "Its not supposed to." Which I then procceded to point out the giant dvd/VCD/audio label on the front of the box. Reluctantly she gave me another one.

The one I took back must have had a different firmware on it or something, bc the one I have now, boots up with a clean, stylish menu (completely different), this one PLAYS svcd's, and anything else I can throw at it, it doesnt sound as bad with my svcd's, the remote is completely different, and this one's tray opens a lot quicker than the other one.

I dont know what the hell was in that box I took back, all I know is I finally got my koss kd305a, and its now delivering everything its supposed to, its a keeper.
