I would go with whatever one in cheaper as they are both ok brands and any difference between the two would be minimal

Micron (also sold as Crucial) and Kingston are the two best brands of RAM you can buy. They are the only brands I would use in a more powerful system that has a 1 gigahertz processor or faster. I have a CAS2 256 meg PC100 SDRAM in my 1.2 Ghz Athlon machine and have had zero problems.
If your machine isn't that fast, go with whatever you can get. Check Pricewatch.com, newegg.com, or http://www.mwave.com for prices.

I'd say just get whatever is cheaper but beware of any PNY rebate. They are notoriously bad when it comes to mailing them out but my personal experience suggests that they are simply rather slow.

what is the difference between sorry brands and da best brands???? Speed???? Life???? I dont get what the difference but i will go with Kingston then. But just for curiosty what is the difference between sorry brands and brands like Crucial?
thanks for the input. -
I've used both in the past and they both worked fine, never had a problem. I've used simpletech in a athlon 1.1 ghz and it was fine, no problem whatsoever. I just added more mem to a computer a few weeks ago but I can't remember what brand that was.....
I'd get whichever one is cheaper. -

Some motherboards are picky with respect to the RAM that they like and will work better with high quality ram (work better = crash less or simply work at all). Also, with the more expensive name brand RAM is id far more likely to work at it's rated speed vs the cheap stuff. Also, service is an issue. I once had a problem with some Muskin RAM that went up in smoke (literally) and they Fedexed a new one along with a return bag (post paid) for me to return the burnt one. Any reputable ram maker usually guarantees their stuff for life (knowing full well that it will be obsolete before it ever goes bad, but that's a separate rant). Except for the Mushkin RAM, I've always used cheap generic RAM and it has served me wellI'd say go ahead and use the generic RAM, just don't buy the cheapest one you can find.

I had a rebate problem to I bought a 50 pack cdr and was supposed to get a 5.00 mail in rebate, 6-8 weeks yeah right!
I got it three months later.
I am upgrading my ram soon from 64 to 512 and I and going to crucial, they seem pretty cheap, 27.89 for a 256 stick is PC133 SDRAM. -
I got Micron RAM off of pricewatch. It was about 65$ for two 256mb sticks. add that to my 128 that came with the pc and I have a total of 640mb 133 ram.

I always buy from Crucial (www.crucial.com). Excellent quality and free 2-Day UPS shipping.

All the chips on good RAM run at their rated speeds.
Crap RAM has chips on it that for one reason or another wouldn't run at
rated speeds (CAS2 for example) but would run at the slower CAS3.
Crucial RAM (=Micron) is darn cheap right now so there's really no reason
to go with anything else.
Just my two cents :^)
