  3. It looks like that your DVD player cannot play CD-R.
    Just a thought.

  5. It doesn't play CD-R not CD.

All DVD players will play pressed CDs. Many, however, are not designed to play CD-R or CD-RW media and not surprisingly, don't do it well or at all.

I also have a couple of Sony players, and you just need to burn your VCDs on CD-RWs. A strange concept I thought, but at least I can test my VCDs and wipe them without wasting CDs.

  10. Don't waste your time, per a technical support person @ sony, Most of there units will not play CDR's or CDRW's.
Although a playstation 2 will play a audio CDR, no Video files on CDR or CDRW's.
    Get a Daewoo DVG-5000N @ sams club for 99bucks..
    plays all, CD,VCD,MP3,XVCD,SVCD,DVD
even raw Mpeg1 or Mpeg2 files..

  11. "Technical support people" usually only give information out that is expedient.

Some models of Sony DVD player ARE designed to play both CD-R and CD-RW and not surprisingly, it does so well.

Many models, however, are not. For these players, though, you can usually still find a brand of either CD-R or CD-RW media that will still work.

    Regards.

  12. Hi Questi4110, You could try "prime" CD-R at Office max (if you are in US) It works with my cousin's sony dvd player while others don't.

  13. I have a Sony also and can use Memorex Platinum CD-RW and they work. Bought at Officemax 24.99 for 25 CD-RWs. Lot higher than CDR but they work.
