  1. I am attempting to take some music video files I have on several assorted DVDs, with the intention of backing them up together on a single DVD, perhaps with a selection menu, and a 'play all' option.

I have been reading through the articles and guides, but I think there may be a better way than I am trying. I was using DVD Shrink (because it allows a 'preview' of each chapter) - because I needed to know which of the files I actually needed. Then I tried DVD Decrypter to actually rip the seperate parts, but I was having trouble figuring out exactly which parts I wanted (from the naming scheme), even after trying to compare the sizes of the files.

Does anyone know of a good program more tailored to what I am trying to do? Or perhaps know of a more specific guide somewhere? Thanks.

  2. As an Update, I just discovered it is better to use the re-authoring mode of DVD Shrink to drag over the parts I want, then backup to disk. Now I just need to do this with all of the DVDs I want sections for. So that's the first step!

  4. The tutorial worked great. I ripped from several DVDs and even was able to use TMPGEnc (with the quicktime plugin) to also add in a MOV video I had, converting it to M2V and WAV.

There were just a few issues I need to figure out how to resolve sometime.

    1) The menu creation system in TMPGEnc DVD Author leaves a lot to be desired.

    2) The sound levels on the different videos were quite a bit different. This is probably due to the differences in the source DVDs, and this may not be really 'fixable'.

    3) I cannot hit the 'menu' button while a track is playing, I can only use the foward button to move to the next one. This may be due to the menu editing/authoring system.

Any comments? I see a lot of people mentioning the use of TMPGEnc DVD Author, but are there better ones out there? I found the interface to be kindof clumsy, and not many options as I would of liked.
