What is it with these fake chat people?

I just checked out the website for the band Vast and they have a fake chat person on their website. Are people so desperate to talk to someone that they need to try to talk to random strings of text?

A bot is like a substitute for a mod...it kicks and bans people for use of certain words or phrases and/or tracks their IP so that someone who were banned can't come back under another name.

And it logs everything said in the chat...so you should be careful what you say in there

You'll find those often used on IRC...they're a big invasion of privacy, and can be used for devious things.
