    Hi,

    Just pruchased the above DVD recorder yesterday, and after installation, i get an warning message;

    "No Hi-Speed USB host controller found, ur DVD recorder will record at reduced speeds." ?

    My Laptop is Dell 8200, P4, 2.4ghz, USB 2.0 .

    I've been to freecom.com's site and theres no hi-speed usb host controllers there, but there were a few updates which i made, but still same warning.

    any help please?

    thx in advance.

    DJ.

  2. Tried to update the USB drivers? I see you have SP1, so USB2 support should be there. Maybe your laptop still use the USB drivers installed by winXP before the SP1 was applied, then its not much highspeed support.

  4. I find it unlikely that freecom has Dell USB drivers, so i guess you are talking about the driver for the dvd writer. WinXP with SP1 got usb 2.0 drivers, those are for the usb CONTROLLER, which has nothing to do with the drivers for your dvd writer.

    Anyway, i think you misunderstood something about your laptop being USB2.0, i took the time to check it out and found this at
    http://www.geocities.com/thebithead/I8200FAQ.htm :

    Q: Does the Inspiron 8200 support USB 2.0?
    No. The built in USB ports do not support USB 2.0. If you need USB 2.0, you can get a PCMCIA card that supports it. Here is one that is reported to work fine: http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/products/subpages/cbu2.html
