  1. Hi guys I'm trying to do a SVCD to DVD re-encode following this guide http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=othertodvd&name=tmpegencvcdtodvd located on that site what I am wondering in the step number 8 where it shows to set like the resolution it has the reso set to 352x576 but mines by default had the 720x resolution so I tried to match the closest setting possible to match there step on there... I am doing for NTSC I am enconding at

    DVD for NTSC (North America and Japan) (MPEG-2 352x480 29.97fps CBR 6314kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps)

Should this still play on any dvd player? or should I had left it in the 720 resolution or does it matter? Thanks in advance for any replies!

  2. 352x480 is known as Half-D1 and is a valid NTSC resolution for DVD. It should play just fine.

yep, 352x480 and 720x480 are both standard dvd resolutions. They'll both play. Since the source is 352 you should probably stay at that. You're not going to gain anything by upping it to 720.

While on the subject, has anyone ever seen a commercial dvd at 352x480?
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

352X576 is Half D1 for PAL, 352X480 is Half D1 for NTSC. All it would be is that the person who wrote the guide is from PAL Land.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Just a quick question if I chose to re-encode it in the 720x resolution this will just mean the dvd will show like full screen on the tv?

Yes, but the same will be true if you encode at 352x480. You should really stick to that because upping it to 720x480 will probably turn out blocky as a result of magnifying the original.
