no doubt the solution is staring me in the face but right now i cant see it.
im shooting video on a daily basis which includes some long panning shots,
i capture footage to fce, export as QT(DV-Pal)and drag into toast to burn at 1 speed, high quality.
When i watch on TV,during the panning shots, the edges, lines and patterns of any objects in the shot flicker/shake really bad.
Is this to do with interlacing?i dont have a clue.
Thanks in advance for any advice

  2. Did you ever find out the reason why your DVDs are doing this? I also have the same problem, very slight stutters on panning shots. Im using a G4 with Toast 6 with Jam to encode....

    sorted it out now,
i deinterlace entire edit before exporting from final cut,no more stutters.
only problem is it takes ages to render, about 2+ hours for a 15 minute movie,so if anyone else reading this knows a faster way please let me know.

  4. It sounds like the field dominance is wrong.

Have you tried to do this with the latest versions of apps and have you checked the settings (if the user can set these things)?

DV and consumer DVD/MPEG is bottom field first (I just learned that professional DVD apparently uses top field first).

In my experience many early version applications set the field dominance wrong.
