  1. Hello,

What is the best version of DVD Shrink when comparing quality. I want to use the one that will give me the best quality. I am currently using 3.1.7.6 and i am getting really poor quality since i started to use this version. So what is the best version for quality??

    Thanks

Well, DVDShrink works for Nero on Recode now. I remember DVDToolBox 1.6 was great until the author sold it to DVDFab, then he released the last DVDToolBox 1.7 which was a total crap.

I don't imply DVDShrink does the same trick here. I get great results from all pre-3.1.76 versions of DVDShrink, but I have not tried 3.1.7.6 yet.

as far as quality, i don't think there's any difference. they all use the same encoding method. The difference between versions is just extra features, and bug fixes

I've never had a wquality issue with Shrink, ever, any version since 3.0.5b . The only time I've seen a quality issue is when some tries the impossible (50% or lower). I mean come on, you want to take a full DVD9 and put in on a DVD5 with no quality loss? Don't you think the studio would have done that if they were able in the first place to save money? It can't be done so stop trying. Ether do without extras/menus or deal with macroblocks.

I'm sure LOTR3 will be one of those, that was a long-ass movie with a lot of action and dark scenes. Dances with Wolves Director's cut was a true DVD18, so Shrink stands no chance by itself (although the 2 disk backup was pretty good). Both are a 2 DVDR backup unless I transcode to 1/2D1. I've seen DVD Video that was 2 GB to 8 GB when ripped. Shrink just isn't right for some movies.

Unfortunately 3.1.7 was giving me some pixelization during scene transitions so I went back to 3 beta 5 which seems to work for me.

I've used most if not all of the versions and am currently using 3.1.7.5. Seems to be working as well or better as previous versions.

I'm using 3.1.7.6 and it works good for me. I'm not seeing any of the blurriness or pixelation everyone's talking about?
