    Hi,

I hope someone can shed some light on a problem I'm having. I hope this is not too obscure.

    The setup:
    - Recorded three episodes on a DVD-RW VR mode disc with a Sony RDR-GX7.
    - Edited the original (A-B erase) to remove the commercials on two of the episodes.
    - Took the disk to my PC with a Plextor DVD drive and used DMF3DC to extract the two episodes to a project. All is ok.
    - Later put the disk back in my PC and the drive would not come ready for a long time. I was eventually able to read the disk.
    - Put the DVD back in the Sony to edit the commercials, but then when I tried to go to the A-B erase function, the recorder said 'Operation not allowed on this disk.'

Now I could not do any edits on this disk, including editing the titles.

Question: Any ideas on what happened to the disk? Did something on my pc 'finalize' or alter the disk in some way? Any clues on what to look for?

sounds to me like you are trying to reedit a disk in a sony standalone that was authored in a computer w/movie factory?

    Am I correct?

No. as far as I know, the disk was not edited or written by DMF. I took no action to write to the disk while it was in my PC. The disk still has all the original Sony menus and everything. It plays normally the way it did before I put it in my PC.

I'm wondering if Win XP took some action that wrote on the disk behind my back.
