  1. I got drifting snych issues with my DVD made with Tmpgenc DVD Author.
    Here is my Process.
    1. Record 1 hour long episode on my ReplayTV 5040 at med quality.
    2. Transfer to PC via DVArchieve 2.1.
    3. Edit to begining and end of show (no commercials,HBO)
    4. Make DVD with Tmpgenc DVD Author w/AC-3 option on. Comprised of 3 hour long episode total 4.9 gigs
    5. Shrink with DVD ShrinK 3.176
    6. Burn nWith CopytoDVD 2.4.17

I noticed lip synch drifting further out as the episode continues, at the end it's out about 10 video frames. Each episode starts in good synch then drifts as it goes.

It's not DVD Author that's the problem. It's the fact that Womble products lose some header/timing/sync info or get it wrong ONLY when editing mpg captures like what you use and Hauppauge products. After womble edit, the resulting mpg file might even playback in sync BUT if it's demuxed into elementary streams, then remuxed back into an mpg (which all authoring programs do, like TDA, during compile to create vobs) then the mpg or vob is out of sync...typically more and more as the file plays.

To solve, use the program videoredo and it will allow edits from your captures and they'll be in sync after you create dvd. let me know if you need further help/advice on this.

or just edit directly in TDA and skip womble. TDA can keep in sync..it's just the womble step that creates a sync problem (but only edits from mpg captures...)

  4. Or demultiplex your source with projectx or pvastrumento, cut the elementary streams with mpeg2schnitt or cuttermaran and use the elementary streams in TDA...

that works too, but since TDA doesn't accept typical file extension types for elementary video like .m2v and .mpv, just rename it with a .mpg ext and TDA will of course take it. The elementary audio will take just fine and re-encode if necessary to be dvd compliant mpg audio, PCM/wav or 2ch ac3 if you have the ac3 plugin OR you bought the retail box version in the U.S. called Tsunami mpeg DVD Author which has Source Creator and AC3 plugin included!

Note: TDA will not encode to dd5.1/ac3 (6ch) but it will accept as a source AND will not re-encode on output unless you tell it too..nice.
