  2. here's a database sort by ratings and 8x.

    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDname=&cdrs=&cdrws=&dvdrs=&dvdrws=&dvdprs=8&d...orderby=Rating

You in the US or Europe?

Will he be keeping the burner for awhile (over 9 months) or be moving on to a newer one by then?

  3. You need more than a cpu you need a whole computer.

Left column, dvd writers for comments as mentioned above.

Also, best prices are on the main page top tight corner, hit refresh & they should show up.

  5. Well the highest rated burner was the NEC 2500A and ebuyer.com had it for 59 pounds. It does + and - and has a hacked firmware that also does bitsetting.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3...duct_uid=56658

If you want to take a chance on a burner that does all that and was third (but way way less buyers) down (its predecessor) and promises to do dual layer then you might also look at the BenQ DW822A.
