I did a search, but didn't find the answer, so I hope it's ok to post my question here. I downloaded the demo of Pinnacle Studio 9 to play around with it, but I must be doing something wrong when making menu's

I captured my video (.avi file) and wanted to add a menu that I can select chapters from when played in my DVD player. I thought I had it, but when I burned to dvd (converted to mpeg-2 using TMPGEnc) the menu was there, but it just played right thru like a frame of video would, about 20 seconds or so, and I couldn't make any selections.

My video has about 160 'scenes', is about 70 minutes long, and I added a menu with 6 chapters, but I can't select the chapters after I burn to DVD. I added the menu as my very first scene, right at the begining of my video

I'm thinking of buying the program if I can get some of this stuff to work. It looks like a nice pgm I'm also curious as to how well the MPEG-2 encoding works, since it's not activated in the demo.

I did find those threads earlier, and actually used the one step by step. I'm able to make my menus, and they work find in demo of Studio 9, but if I burn to VCD, or make .avi file and then encode into mpeg-2 using TMPGEnc, then burn to dvd, the menus don't work from my DVD player. I'll keep trying. I'm sure I'm missing a step somewhere. I can't see them offering a demo of a program crippled so much that you can actually use it.

I did see that Newegg has Studio 9 for $80, so I may just buy it and hope for the best

    1. I have no idea how menu works on VCD only DVD.
    2. When you make AVI you don't make MENU. Menu is part of DVD Authoring proces.

I went ahead and ordered Pinnacle's Studio 9, even though I didn't have any luck with the demo. I'm hoping that once I can do the MPEG-2 encoding right from Studio 9, the menu/chapters will work for me
