Too bad for LVD-2010.
I'll go back to my original project: Connecting my LVD2001 to a network through the PCMCIA-card reader.
Has anyone tried something like this?
I have a few interesting ideas I didn't actually try, yet.
Philips & Oxford Semiconductors have the chips to do IDE to USB conversion. They have evaluation boards because I'm not into designing my own board. The Philips' is expensive $350, Oxford doesn't want to sell it to me.
usbdevelloper proposes a line thing but it needs a computer (next to the player) to run it.
Probably the best idea is WebAsDisk (WAD) from Kontron allowing to connect a disk to the web :P. The idea is to trick this WAD into thinking the LVD is a disk it needs to write data onto instead of reading from. WAD presents to the LVD, in Memory Card mode, the file tree of the server it is connected to and I can choose on my TV the music I want to hear.
Music I say 'cause WAD is not very fast. DivX requires probably too much bandwidth.
Bill Todd Trailing the WebAsDisk has got this thing to work on some other player so it might bloody well work.
What about:
The cable between the LVD-board and the Card-Reader seems to be an IDE cable, but it doesn't miss the 20 pin so you can't use a standard cable. Does anyone know if it is an IDE-interface?
Did anyone connect another hard disk to the LVD. Either as a slave to the DVD-Disk Drive or to the Card Reader slot thru' some converter cable?
