  1. I feel like an idiot but I couldn't find answers after searching here and at avs so here it goes:

I just purchased an E80 and I'm using a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD box from Adelphia Cable and also a Panny HD D* receiver. I hooked the S-Video and 2 Channel audio to Input 1 and Input 2 of the E-80. The manual only covers configuring the "Automatic Channel Setup" using the RF input. Is that the only way to do it or can I do an Auto scan via the S-Video inputs? Also, can I have both receivers hooked up to the E80 and how will the E80 differentiate between the two for the channel guide? The component video of both boxes goes straight to my TV. Will either or both boxes output component to my TV and S-Video to the Recorder? I realize I can't record HD on this box. This thing is more confusing than I thought. Thanks for the help!

  2. I have an E50 and the hook up you have should be close to mine. When you are hooking up to your receiver through s-video you are not using any of the tuner capability of the E80. Consequently there are no "channels", you will record what ever your receiver is outputting. Unlike an antenna or cable you have to set up your tuner to send the correct program to the E80 and then set up the E80 to record through whatever input you are using. I think you should be able to input the cable directly to the RF input of the E80 and set the tuner section for cable and then use the tuner in the E80, but as you have surmised the signal probably will not be as good as s-video. Also, I found I had to input a channel manually before it would stop trying to do the auto setup and let me select the s-video inputs. Hope this helps.
Still a few bugs in the system...
