I have been backing up various dvd's of mine and have a dilemma. Why on most dvd's is "deep analysis" available as an option and on some, it just won't let me do it?

I'd prefer do run it on every disc, but cannot. I was just trying to backup Monster's Inc.(for example) and the deep analysis box could not be checked.

Does anyone know why? And do i need to run it every time? I figured that even if it improved quality 2%, it's worth it.

    Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

If there is no compression, deep analysis is not an option (for obvious reasons). I tend to do on any disc that is below 90% (which means most discs). I don't really know how much deep analysis helps, as I've never tried experimenting - but others have reported that it does really help - so what the hell, why not do it.

there's a great explanation of what 'deep analysis' is in this forum under a new post: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=214651&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

    Maybe this will help.

Take a look at this thread.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Deep analysis is not available if it is a DVD-5, or if you uncheck the extra audio it becomes a DVD-5. basiocally, if it is already small enough to fit on a DVD-R, no need to deeply analyse as it isn't compressing it anyways.
