Hi.
Is there a DVD my computer can make that will play in every DVD player? Also, if I make a DVD in one format (like DVD+RW) can it be converted to a DVD that will play in all DVD players by a professional company. or to other formats with the right computer DVD writer?
Thanks,
George

Simple answer: No, there isn't.
Also, if I make a DVD in one format (like DVD+RW) can it be converted to a DVD that will play in all DVD players by a professional company. or to other formats with the right computer DVD writer?
There are problems with any format, even the DVD you buy in a store, on some players. That is called bad players. No way around it. Both the + and the - format will play on most players, and on newer players they should play on any DVD player.
If you want to have a pro company print your DVD on "regular" DVD platters, you can do that too. It shouldn't matter all that much to them what format you bring it to them on, but you'll pay a lot of money for the pleasure.Terje A. Bergesen -
Pirated DVDs (always DVD5) are written in a professional way and will play on players that can play original DVD. They do not cost much at all, i picked up some movies in Philippines for around 1.25 Euro a piece, and then the disk is professionally printed so you can't tell the difference from the original and a high-res cover and dvd housing is included. So it does not cost alot of money, try to make it that cheap at home? Remember this price is including the profit of the vendors and distributors, so the actual price of making a "pro" DVD5 including everything is LOW!

The cost per disc to press a professional DVD is low, if your making thousands of copies. It is, however, very expensive if you only want a dozen. Georgeo57 did't say how many copies he needed.

DVD-ROM is the only format that can be expected to play reliably in any player, or at least the vast majority of them. Even still, if the DLT you give to the replicating house has authoring errors, you will have compatibility issues even with DVD-ROM.

Ok, lets say he order 2000 DVDs from Malaysia, still not more than a western world 1 months salary. Even 10,000 copies would cost only a few small concerts if for example a not too famous band wanted to get their concert onto DVD-ROM.
