I have two 715mb XViD avi files that I would like to convert to mpg2 and burn a standard DVD. Is the best way to just use the project wizard in TMPGenc and set the "make file size" to 50% of the DVD for each avi? Doing this way yields almost 3mb/s bitrate. Or should I join the two avi's together (if so, how?) Or is there another way to do this? My ultimate goal is to make one DVD rather than two SVCDs if that helps...

    Thanks!

I would encode each file separatelly. Don't set the final size for each file to 50% of the DVD size, rather check the duration of each file and use the duration as a measure of the percentage of the DVD disk size.

E.g. If file 1 is 40 min. and file 2 is 35 min, then

    file 1 final size should be 40 / 75 X 4.3Gb and File 2 final size should be 35/75 X 4.3Gb.

Also, it's best to use VBR single or 2 pass.

Also, check the frame sizes of the files and ensure that the encoded file will have a legal DVD frame size (although I guess the Tmpgenc wizzard will do that for you).
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
