if your DVD is ready then zip the VOB files separately and whats left pit in the separate zip. In your case it could be 4x 1Gig zipped files. If you have only MPEG2 then split the files into smaller chunks and zip them separately (or use RAR compression). Anyone would be able to compile a DVD from MPEG2 files provided they have used DVD authoring prog. be4. You can also post smaller MPEG1 files for download for VCD making.

Forget about zipping. ISO is the way to go.
If you already have the VIDEO_TS folder on your HDD make an ISO image with ImgTool Classic.
If its on DVD disc then rip it as ISO with DVD Decrypter. -
i have the original footage so i can make it available in any format needed, can i use DVDDecrypter with original footage or would i have to make the DVD then use DVDDecrypter, what about simply offering a MPEG2 file wouldnt this be best, i just want to make it as easy as possible for the person downloading to make a dvd from the downloaded file

If you're really going to make this available to download, author it first with a DVD Authoring application. Then create an ISO image from the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders. Use winrar to split the file into smaller chunks, around 90 or so 50MB chunks.
I'd be pissed if I was downloading a 4gig image only to have the server crap out at 3gig, then have to start over. This way a user can grab 50 here, 50 there. If someone on dialup would attempt to download it, this would be easier from them (though it might take a week or two).
Create parity files with smart par, or at least a MD5 checksum and/or SFV file so you can check the integretity of the files once downloaded. Parity files will allow a downloader to recover files that are damaged in the download process. This does happen, even more so with large files. -

Just do what the pirates do

Thanks disturbed1 you were quite helpful, when you say " Create parity files with smart par, or at least a MD5 checksum and/or SFV file so you can check the integretity of the files once downloaded", how do i go about doing this? BTW i was not yanking your chain, i really am quite stuped, @ least when it comes to DVD creation, i have only started to learn about creating DVDs in the last couple of weeks, heck I don’t even own a DVD player! tnx again

If you are indeed stupid as you say you are then you won't understand anything that anyone tells you on here anyway.
Heck, while Im at it, I may as well ask if you have a milf, since you cant understand anyway.
Im gonna keep going until the feces impacts the rotating oscillator. -
its ok just done a google search, thought smart par was some feature within win rar

if hes being serious just release it in the same way others are released
(a) 700MB avi mp3 audio
(b) 2x 700mb avis with ac3 audio
(c) the full dvd by giving the vobs obtained through dvd decrypter
look in the guides flick round the forum
i guess that hes bought a dvd and is now trying to find the best way of releasing it on bit torrent or the newsgroups
