  1. I've been trying to convert a DVD to VCD or SVCD using a method that seems to be correct to me.

    1. I use VOBEdit to Demux the video and audio to an m2v and ac3 file.
    2. I then use AC3Tool to conver the ac3 to wav
    3. Use TMPEGEnc to convert to VCD or SVCD. I use the m2v and the wav file as the input files.

Video comes out ok (aspect ratio good, etc) However, the audio synch is quite a bit off.

I'm now beginning to think that it has something to do with the Demux from VOBEdit. The AC3 file that I got from VOBEdit won't play in my Win Media Player as they usually do. I tried to use my DVD authoring software to remux the AC3 and M2V but the software had an error reading the AC3. I then muxed the WAV and the M2V back in to a DVD format. This DVD had audio synch problems.

Has anyone had any luck converting DVD to VCD this way?

I have one DVD that I already converted to VCD. I then deleted the DVD and am now stuck with just a de-synched VCD file. Any idea on how I can line up the audio correctly.

    Thanks,

I can't help with your problem, but I use DVD2avi which creates an m2v and wav file for frameserving to tmpgenc. Never had a problem myself.

  4. Thanks for the tip on EazyVCD but I would prefer to perform each step of the conversion manually. That way I more fully understand all that is happening. Guess I'm just weird like that.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    Thanks,

Take a look at Rejig. It can demux and will correct any ac3 delay before converting to wav. Also you might want to try HeadAC3he for converting the ac3 audio.

    Yep. Definitely weird. Anyway...

If you wish to do each process one at a time, try this guide.
