Is there a technique for minimizing flicker on the resulting video when capturing Super 8 film through the use of a film projector and videotaping it using a Digital 8 videocam? Are there filters in software to facilitate this process? Any suggestions?

  2. Benny, . . . I cannot answer the tecchie "Why???" but I do believe if you have a friend that has an 8mm Sony analog, you may be more pleased with the results.
I have done several for friends with my old Sony, and flicker never really was much of a problem.
    May God bless,
    Dwight

Your post is almost off the current list so before it goes I can give you a little info - sorry I don't have more but maybe this helps as I looked into this a little a while back:
    - to minimize flicker you need to play with the framerate on the projector - I think trial & error type of process (you need to view your video as you speed up / slow down the film) (if that's not working, there is a unit out there that you record from rather than a screen - I think they went from $900 up to about $2k, so they are pricey)
    - I can't remember which s/w has this but there is an anti-'bulb' filter around - e.g. when you project film, the center is brighter b/c of the way the bulb is shaped - this filter reverses that to balance the picture (the $$ devices avoid this by lighting the film from behind dimly and letting you record that directly).

I think if you search around in the forums here you will find more - did you try that yet?
