This was updated a few days ago while the VCDHelp Forums was still down. This new version is basically a massive bugfix over the previously released version. All know bugs have been fixed.
This demo disc is an example of what VCD2.0 is capably of and furthermore, what you can author with VCDImager. It shows a number of examples of authoring (e.g., entrypoints, simple and complex menus, autopause, etc.) with some degree of self documentation (i.e., "how tos" ).
There are also test video clips and images in PAL, NTSC, and NTSC-FILM. If you are buying a new DVD player and want VCD playback, it would be a good idea to burn this disc onto CD-R and test it on prospective players.
This disc can be downloaded from: http://www.vcdimager.org/discs.phtml#demo
It comes as either a multi-RAR archive (you need WinRAR) or as one zip file (you need WinZip). Choose either the PAL (Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand) or NTSC (North America and Japan) version.
The image is in a CUE/BIN format. Use either CDRWin or CDRDAO to burn. DO NOT use Nero for the reasons described here: http://www.hvrlab.org./~hvr/vcdimager/nero_bug.html I'm somewhat ambivalent about Fireburner as it doesn't fully support all the commands actually used in the cuesheet, but most people don't have a problem with it.
This will be the last version of the Demo VCD in this form unless there's demand for this to continue. I'm creating a new VCD/XML Authoring Guide Series and rather than creating a massive image that incorporates absolutely everything, I'm going to create small "mini" CUE/BIN images of VCDs that show how specific things work in detail. The idea being that it would be quick to download, quick to burn (preferably on a CD-RW so you can erase it later). The new Article series is here: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd
BTW, a new VCDImager forum has been set up here: http://forums.vcdimager.org If you have any specific questions about VCD authoring with VCDImager, that would be a good place to post (e.g., rather than post a long XML here, do it there and save some bandwidth).
Regards.
