I use DVD Decrypter along with ImgTools Classic Version to create my ISO IMAGE file.

However I also use TMPGEnc DVD Author a good bit so in those instances I let that program create an ISO IMAGE file but I still burn with DVD Decrypter.

So what does everyone else use?

  2. you didn't include DVD Shrink.
I use TMPEGEnc DVD Author to Author HQ mpeg 1(4000000+ bits sec) and 2 files and DVD Shrink to burn (it uses the Nero Engine I think).
I used the Tmpeg burner but got one coaster so don't use it anymore.

Truth be told I don't use DVDShrink very much and when I do I still use DVD Decrypter ... in short I didn't even realize DVDShrink had a burner app built-in.

However if it uses the NERO engine that just select NERO from the list I guess ... unless people want me to add DVDShrink as an option then I will.

I actually knew about the new DVDShrink having ISO IMAGE creation but I didn't know it could auto launch DVD Decrypter. That is a nice feature.

The last couple versions of ImgTools classic can also auto launch DVD Decrypter.

  6. DVD Shrink

Easiest way I know to make discs that are region free and work(so far)in every type of player that i've ever stuck them into.
just uses the engine and has a burn gui.

I only burn ISO files and I burn everything with Decrypter.

I use IMGtools when I have just the folders.
    pdi2iso if I have used IC7 for a backup
I have TDA make an ISO

I use shrink sometimes too. But like you fulci, I still rip with Decrypter and burn with decrypter.

Although, I have to say I don't "backup" DVDs much anymore. It was interesting as I was learning it, but I was mainly learning it because sometimes my own created DVDs were too large to fit on disc and I needed a way to make them fit.

Also, when I make a DVD, I keep a copy on file incase the customer breaks or scratches theirs. And when I need to make another copy for them, I use Decrypter in ISO read/write mode.

I don't even know what you are talking about! I mean I don't ever recall even ever hearing about that program!

Only person that uses that DVD burner software is someone who tries WAY too hard to be different.

I use Dlonedvd or TMPGE author, Does tmpg author use it's own burning software or does it burn with nero?

The burner built-in with TMPGEnc DVD Author has NOTHING to do with NERO

Same here when using dvd-r (only works on 1 out of my 3 dvd players) very strange.
-rw and +r work fine though!
Using Optorite burner (not ofically suported anyway)
So just I stick to nero 5.5.10.42 no probs (as opposed to 6 )

  18. I use mostly burnatonce for -R media, but it doesnt recognize my +RW media, and a multi-title image created with it and burned to a +RW using DVDdecrypter didnt work in PowerDVD, 1st title only. Worked fine when burned on the fly with TMPGEncDVDauthor to +RW, and on the fly with burnatonce using -R media. IMGTools/DVDdecypter is better for image creations (classic version, not even Nero ASPI in my computer) so thats my vote, but i still use burnatonce to save the time to create image when using -R media.

I use Decrypter, Shrink & CopytoDVD, in that order. I rip from a DVD16x & burn with a Buslink 412 (actually a Lite-on 451s) on TDK+R (4x) disks. So far, no coasters. There may be a faster or easier way, but if it works don't fix it.. They play fine on a CyberHome 300.

  21. I am also missing something. most DVD-Video's I burn comes right off the manufacturing line - so I am burning straight away with Adobe Encore.

I think many are missing the point: DVD Video Burning Not ripping. Not authoring. Not editing. Burning.

A couple people have said that they get coasters using the burning app built-in to TMPGEnc DVD Author.

I just want to point out that I use TMPGEnc DVD Author a lot but I use DVD Decrypter for burning. I do use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create an ISO IMAGE FILE when I use it. That seems to work as well as ImgTools Classic.

However in the end I always burn with DVD Decrypter.

You and I are as old as dirt.

I started creating DVD's when I got my first Sony in Oct 2002. That's when I found this forum and joined. Just like you I have tried just about all of the software out there worth testing. There is ONLY one program that is head and shoulders above all the rest for the past 1 1/2 years, DVD Decrypter. I also use ImgTool Classic to create the ISO. With Daemon Tools (also free) you can mount the image and verify it before burning a coaster.

Who said the best things in life are FREE.

Keep up the good work John.....

That's not that funny. Do you know how many time I tried to burn using Roxio (version 5 i think) before I found this site. Staring in disbelief at the ERROR on my dvd player for nth time.
    For me:
Roxio recognizes media and burns coasters
Nero recognizes DVD drive but doesn't recognize media
So my favorite method of burning is DVD Decrypter since it actually finishes the race.

Got Nero 6 Ultra but had to roll back Burning Rom to 5.5.9.x because of lock-ups.
