I am apply a filter to a MPG using TMPGEnc, and I see a setting on the right which is either ES or System video stream type. I can find info on what is the difference.

Do you know the difference between ES or System? I am working only with video stream and eventually it will be recombined with an audio stream, then re-authored to DVD.

Thanks for clarifying the mystery up!

ES is for elementary streams. They are the individual video and audio streams separate from one another. If you are encoding video which you plan on multiplexing later, than you should just use a video only ES output in TMPGenc.

System stream is also called a program stream and typically has the .mpg file extension. It is the result you get after multiplexing. If you want to add an audio stream later you will first have to demultiplex...so this isn't what you want.
