  1. I bought 2 different drives. A Liteon8x(Returned) and a dual Digital Research(current)8x dvdrw burner. Both do the same thing.
I install the software that is included in the bundle Roxio 6. Before i even get to burn a CD. It gives me an option of what speed i want to record at. Normally, it should give me the options of 1x,2x,4x,8x, etc.. It only lets me select it as 3x (I dont even see the options of 4x and 8x..) what makes it even worse, Nero only lets me select 1x,2x,2.4x. This is driving me nuts! Does anyone know what i should do?
    I have winXP.
4 hdds connected to a Promise card.
So the dvd is by itself in the MB IDE.
the jumpers are set up ok.
    Can anyone please help??

The latest firmware for this drive is 0357. Try upgrading to it if you haven't already.

What type of DVD disk did u put in? Normally if its 2x, do not expect 4x or 8x.

  4. Even before the drive reads a DVDR it only gives me the option to select 3x (Roxio) or lower (For nero). This is Right before you burn a DVDR. Normally u can click on the burn button and then it will ask you for a DVDR right before it writes to the disc.
I disabled and enabled UDMA on my MB IDE but the same issue still persists. :/ this is fustrating for a technition.

  5. Nero 6 needs lots of patches. Also use compatible media! Not just 8x media, but 8x media that works with your specific writer & firmware.
