  1. Well, i bought the model GSA 4081b, and, i tried to put this model as a rpc 1 region free, using the official new firmware released by LG, and the result was... nothing. Driveinfo tool tells me that the driver indeed changed to a newer version(A100 to A101), but it also tells that the drive HAS REGION PROTECTION. Nothing changed. I installed the tool Region Killer, but, since this tool dosen't work with rpc2 drivers, the region protection was not broken. That sucks. If i try to play, using Power dvd, a region protected dvd under Region Killer, the player refuses to play the dvd. If i turn off the Region Killer, i can play the dvd, but it costs me one change on the region setting(i have, right now, only 3 changes left, until it will become a region locked permanent drive).
Now, i'll never now, cause i'll never try to flash a firmware again... but, maybe, i should have used the rpc 1 firmware provided by the Dangerous Brothers. Well, i liked to share this newbie experience of mine with you guys.

  2. I have the exact drive and it is set to none for region protection. I am surprised it isn't working for you. Everything I read about this drive is it should able to change the protection up to 5 times. I would try to contact LG for assistance. Is the a retail verion or OEM? I have heard a bad thing when it comes to OEM model and that you cannot change this setting. Please let me know how it goes.
