hi i have been having problems recently converting svcd's to dvd mpeg. the problem i have is the file starts to re-encode using tmpgenc then after about 2-3 mins it just freezes and the program crashes.
i thought it might be a codec issue as i had a couple of different ones, so i installed the k-lite codec pack and this resolved the problem. what i noticed after the files were converted was a stagger on the movie when it was running. i used to get this when i converted ntsc to pal, as i was losing a few frames per sec.so i now leave the file in whatever format it is in.
the file i converted today was a pal file so i left the file in that format.
still the stagger was there.
i have unistalled all the codecs and re-instaled k-lite by itself.
has anybody else had this problem or can you suggest a basic set of codecs for converting mpeg1\mpeg2 and divx\xvid to dvd mpeg.
thanks
chris

It isn't necessary to re-encode SVCD for DVD. A program like like DVD Patcher will correct the headers so that the 480x480 will play normaly on DVD. Ifoedit will also take SVCD mpg and author to DVD without the need to re-encode.
