  1. I'm trying to convert an avi with ac3 sound using CCE SP and AVISynth, but every time I add the avs script to CCE, my file has always 240 frames and 10 seconds of duration.

I opened the avs script with windows media player and get the following error :

"ACM failed to suggest a compatible PCM format."

I can play the avi using Windows Media Player without the avs script, so probably I have the ac3 codec.

What am I doing wrong ?

  2. AviSynth presents uncompressed video AND audio to any encoder or player. Therefore, by playing the avs file , the audio is NOT ac3 at that time, whereas the original avi audio is.

To overcome this you need to install the AC3 acm decompressor which will then process the avs audio by downmixing it to 2 channel stereo. If you want to keep the 5.1 ac3 you will need to demux (Virtualdubmod) it from the avi and multiplex it back in at the DVD author stage (assuming that's what you want to do).
