Hi
I'm looking for a little advice or even a 2nd opinion.... I've got a Pioneer A06 and use the Ritek G04 disks. No problems - burn 100's in fact. I then got a NEC 2500A and when I use the same disks I get play back issues i.e. jerks, freezing & skipping etc etc.
Also I've noticed an issue when reading disks on the NEC. DVD Decrypter show numerous read errors and often fails to complete, yet, again on the Pioneer everthing is fine.
So... Do I have a bad drive or bad disks? I really don't want to stop using the Ritek disks as they're the only ones I get good playback on. In fact I'm considering exchanging the NEC for the Pioneer 107.
Any ideas or suggestions??
Cheers

My suggestion would be to go for the pioneer 107.

My suggestion would be return the NEC and wait for the Dual Layer to come out.

I had to return my NEC 2500A for the same reason. I had a lot of Ritek G03 media on my hands. This burner just doesn't like any media that uses Ritek dye. A few people report not having any issues but I sure did have major issues. The Ritek disks I burned with this burner they couldn't be read back with the same burner. I returned it and paid the 15% restocking fee. Got a Pioneer 107D and I'm very happy now. If you do get the 107D, I recommend sticking with the official firmware.

There is always something to wait for, you could be waiting for months, and then be prepared to pay for the new technology. When duel layer burners are available people will be saying wait for blue ray.

Thanks guys, appreciate all the feedback. Well, it looks like it's going to be the Pioneer then! - It's only around £20 difference anyway.
Serves me right for taking the cheapest option!!! No such thing as a free lunch etc etc
Cheers
oh, btw why stick to the original firmware?? I have the 'hacked' version on my A06 and can't see any problems -
the cheapest option.
in the store near me,the 107D is only like £75.
NEC=Nasty,Error-filled Crap.
