You can get Disc Burner from versiontracker.com
The nice thing about this is, it doesnt add any .db files.
It doesnt verify and is therefor faster
its free
You can fit more data because TOAST adds its own files and wont let you do a full 4.7GB
Image tooks under 5 mins to create (not burn)
Burns faster then rest though
bad things, buggy since it is freeware.
What works best for me is to create and IMG and then burn the image.
It doesnt verify.
If you dont have the 4x firmware upgrade, it will try to write @ 4x (if media supports it) which RUINS your dvd burner.
Also for those of you that are new and dont know what programs are out there, this is a break down of what I USE
DVD BACKUP (used to copy VOB files to hard drive and can remove encryption)
DVD2ONE (resizes vob files to fit on one dvd)
FFXMPEG (encoding for audio and video along with S/VCD options, what I use. I paid but there are ALOT of options with freeware)
MPEG2WORKS (same thing but i dotn think its freeware, i just paid the small fee right away)
3ivx (similar to divx, nice compression but doesnt do MPEG2 encoding)
SizzLE (used to author DVD and create menus too, will give warning if not in right codec format)
VCDTOOLSx (used to rip alot of s/vcd and other useful things. I recommend you download GUI for it also)
All of these are available for freeware via versiontracker.com
I recommend everyone pay the 20 dollars for the APPLE MPEG2 encoding software (www.quicktime.com)
Also, for the freeware products there is alot of TIME and TALENT put into these. So if they support money(some want to keep anonymous) then you should all pay them. Also make sure you read and search before you try doing anything.
There are alot of answers in these pages.

Verifying is GOOD! And, if you don't like it, you can tell it to stop.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

every program adds its own files, there is no way that app allows u to get the full 4.7 gigs of a dvd... a certain amount of that MUST be taken up for header files and such on the dvd, so no burning app (short of hacking it) will get u a full 4.7 gigs.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind. -
no need to get upset here. I am just giving people an option for getting something other then toast, because not all of us are made of money, or want to go spend time looking the net for a hacked version.
And for your information, it doesnt add any files. But all it does is copy the files you tell it to.Thanks

Thanks for this info.
There are a lot of people who dont have toast and are looking for a good burning app... this one clearly has the potential.
again, thanks for the info! -

This app is at version 1.0.2 and was last updated in May 2003. Is this what you're recommending? And it has the potential to "ruin" your burner eh? Sounds great. Hang on while I download it. :P
Also it seems to have issues with Panther, and I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of updates was due to Apple's legal department clobbering the author.
Cheers! -
This seems to be a front end for Apples DR API's which means it can not do UDF so burning a DVD with it is pointless. Also, you will never get more on any DVD then what Toast can burn.

well considering i have burn 15 plus dvd's with it, it obviously works. And when I try to burn them it toast it says the fiile is to big and it will need to eencode it. Or if i uses apple disk copy it says the same thing.
This thing, it didnt care.
And for future reference, if you put any 4x media into a 2.4 burner without firmware upgrade, any burner will allow you to write to it, which ruins it.Thanks
