  1. Hey,

Does any one know a good tool to make Background Templates....like the ones they use in DVD lab?

I would love to make my own templates for chapters....like the TV Template.....but I have no Idea how they do it?
    Thanks

    Morning,

I've had some success in doing this but not complete success. First create a new menu and set it up in the way you wish the background to appear. E.g. frames for chapters etc then save as menu then load the menu into the backgrounds or chapter selection objects. I suspect that you need to set up the frames and buttons on the menu with specific names for the chapter selections wizard to set up chapter menus correctly but, to be honest, I normally end up either making chapter selections by hand, (to fit with photoshop or animated menus), or making tv captured movie-only disks with no selection menus at all, (but with say 20 chapters in an hour long show)

    Cheers

I use Photoshop for all my menus.

If you have Photoshop, know how to use it and have a good imagination, then there is virtually nothing you can't create.

If you like that TV template, then just export it to a psd or bmp file. Open the image in photoshop, select the color in the TV screens and delete it so that you have a transparent layer. Then import your images into and under the TV layers, so that they will look like they are in the tv. Experiment here, there's unlimited posabilities, especially if you make a motion menu with the image in your NLE.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  4. I agree with racer-x. Try using a photo editing program like Photoshop to achieve the effect. Use textures on a plain color background. Bring in objects, then add some motion blur to them, adjust opacity levels. Finally bring in some lighting effects and voila, you have a background that looks professionally made.
Check out the numerous Photoshop tutorials on the net.
