  1. Hi, I have a Sony Digital Camera and I use to just plug in the usb from the computer to the camera and Winxp would assign a drive to my camera which I could easily transfer the files to my HD. For some reason, I can no longer do this and when I plug in the camera, all I get is the small little "safely remove hardware" icon in the bottom right corner of Windows (next to the time stamp). I think this has something to do with it but Im not sure since in windows device manager it says my USB camera is working fine.

is there any other way to transfer the images? Thank you!

  2. That note says you need to reinstall drivers. did you get a driver disk with your camera?

  3. actually I just reinstalled my pc chipset drivers and it fixed that problem, whatever that was linked to. The main issue persists, I still cannot transfer files from my camera to my pc. I never installed the cameras drivers, when I originally got it as a gift, I would just plug it into my USB and Windows would assign a drive letter in explorer. I do not have a disc for the camera either :/ Kind of at a loss now

  4. Get a card reader, I am assuming the photos are stored on some sort of media card.

I had similar problems with my Canon camera, so I bought a card reader which works well and is cheap to buy. I couldn't stand the hassle of fiddling about with drivers etc.
