I am a newbie at all this but i have one problem.
I have some holiday movie files that were recorded in the following format:-
Video - 352x240x32 92.970 fps mpeg-1
audio - 44,100hz stereo mpeg layer 2
and i cant seem to put them onto dvd
I can put them individually onto vcd and they work fine. but as soon as i try to put them onto dvd (so that i can fit more onto a disk) I get all sorts of problems, as follows:-
I get audio sync problems ( slowly out of sync gradually getting worse)
or
I get jerky movement when there is sideways movement. (this is the worst)
or the files wont fit onto a 4.7gb dvd (the individual files are approx 500mb each) so i thought i should be able to fit about 8-9 files on each dvd, but this doesnt seem to be the case.
i dont mind too much about the quality of the audio (and if i have to i dont mind too much about the quality if video)
I need to fit a menu on the dvd so that i can access individual scenes or even a seperate slideshow of stills.
sometimes i get a good quality but the picture is smaller than the tv screen, but in vcd it is full screen.
but i would like to fit these thing onto a dvd so that everyone on the holday can have a reasonable copy to watch. I need to make full screen (pal) and widescreen (pal) copies so that they can all enjoy is to its fullest extent.
sorry if this is a bit of a arkward problem but as a newcomer i am tearing my hair out while trying to do my best for all of the 16 people that went on holiday with us.(really i am trying to be clever hero by putting it all on dvd for everyone)
i have :-
p4 2ghz
512ram
nec dvd recorder
tons of drive space (about 30gb free)
i am using (at the moment):-
tmpg plus (encoder & author) (but i will buy any encoder or author that will do the job)(money is no object-Honestly)
can anybody please explain all this to me or at least point me in the direction of a good tutorial.(for any program)
thanks in advance for anyone who can solve my problem ...........maloricsdad.[/b]

You don't need to re-encode your video as it is DVD compliant already, re-encoding only degrades the quality. You can simply drop your videos into TMPGEnc DVD Author and create your menus, it will re-sample your audio (must be 48 KHz) and create your DVD for you. Here's a guide.
Oops, I just realized you're converting NTSC to Pal, so you do need to re-encode for that."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
yes...what zippy said for one thing
also....you appear to have NTSC VCD that you want to convert to PAL fullscreen and widescreen. You want to do different things but there are guides here for all of that. Search thru the guides section.
also pt 2....You apparently have several VCD size files. When you use TDA, you should put each seperate file on a seperate track. That will minimize if not eliminate the possibility of audio sync problems. Then you can use the menu to access them.
