  1. I'm not sure whether this is a Nero problem or a conversion problem, so I'll start here with my asbestos suit on.

I'm starting with 720x480 captured NTSC DV files. First I deinterlace it with VirtualDub, then I resize the resulting file to 480x480 using the Huffyuv codec for compression. My frame rate is 29.97, and my audio is 44.1 stereo.

Then I bring the file into TMPGEnc 12f, and I have tried numerous SVCD templates that I have found around here. I've tried Constant Bitrate, one pass, and three pass VBR. I've put the source and encode method as Interlaced and the aspect ration as 1:1. My average bitrate ends up around 2100.

When I add the mpg file to Nero 5.5.0's NTSC Super Video CD template it tells me that I have an invalid video stream (29.97 frames/second, 480x480 pixels) and that is it. However, above it tells me that the video needs to be "480x480 at 29.97Hz". Is this not the same thing? Is there anything above that might be a flag as to what I'm doing wrong?

I've been working on this for weeks now and I'm going nuts. Please assist if possible.

uncheck "create standard compliant cd" in nero, then it should accept the file.

  3. I figured out how to do that, but I'm trying to make a SVCD that will play on most DVD players. This message is coming up for a reason and I'm being careful and want to find out why.

I've also tried WinOnCD and had the same "This is not a compliant stream" message.

try demuxing the file, then remuxing with bbMPEG's SVCD settings. I've had similar errors before, and this solved them

  5. I had a similar problem. Go here http://www.tmpgenc.com/e_main.html and get the latest version of tmpgenc. Then use the template called "Super Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-2 480x480 29.97fps CQ 65, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)". Forget all the other stuff - this should work fine.
