  1. Now I'm not too sure about this way because I just thought of it as I was lying around my house watching tv(bored). Well any I'll put it in steps as i thought about it.

lets say that you have about 90min. of video that you want in high quality but won't fit on to disc, but here's how i did it:
Step 1. Encode your 90min video with any encoder of your choice in my case I chose TMPGEnc and encoded it at 8000kb/s(high quality). Wait for it to finish.

Step2. I used nero because it was the fastes to create a "qiuck menu" because all you basically need is the video

Step3. Now you'll need to have at least 20GB free.BTW you'll need Daemon Tools. Now use the image recoder to burn an image of the dvd. Once it's done use Daemon to "boot" the image.

Step4. Now here's my genius at work. Use Nero Recode to compress the the video, I would advise about 60-99% so you won't notice much quality difference from what I've read, then burn to your DVD+R

Now this IS NOT TESTED YET but I'll try it now. But remember this came out of the mind of a genius named Supersonicl2

    supersonicl2 ...

I've been doing it that way for quite awhile ... I've made dvd folders with

TMPGEnc DVD Author ... size were close to 9 gigs ... I like motion menus. 8)

But Nero Recode gets alittle fussy [too big] ... so I use InterVideo DVDCopy 1.2 to compress the vob file structure. I now have InterVideo DVDCopy 2 ... I haven't tried it yet.

I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 ... to make DVD Compliant Mpg-2 videos.

Of the retarded posts that show up here on a daily basis, this has got to be a clear winner.

And humble, at least I hope a little humbler after this thread.

You're better off encoding to the proper size in the first place, and 2-pass VBR will give the best quality like holistic pointed out.
