No sound when playing MP3 on my Philips 958!!!

I have just recently bought a Philips 958 DVD, and I ve been told it reads MP3 s. But when I tried to burn a record no sound came! I used WINON CD, and burned as Cd rom. The player seem to read the track, but no sound came. How should I go about? It reads nearly anything else I put into it, but ofcourse not this!! All help is appreciated.
