I have been using DVD Shrink 3.1 to re-author my dvds and then rip them to the hard drive ... Nero 6.x.x.x to burn. It has been working very well with my Pioneer A06. I am having a difficult time with menus though. After making a dvd backup copy that was re-authored, my menus do not work correctly. How can I get them to function if I am not making a complete backup of the whole movie? The menus will play, but I can not select anything ... the menus run without control! Thanks for the help!

  3. Titleset Blanker and DVDStripper can do it. Maybe Noki will post a link for you, there's another freeware way to junk extras and retain an operable menu.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  4. Using Shrink and wanting to reatin the menus leaves you 2 Options -

    A. Back up whole disk.

    B. Make two disks. Disk 1 - reauthored movie only. and
Disk 2 - whole disk with the movie compressed to still pictures.

That way all the menus and extras are still intact on disk 2 and to watch the movie use disk 1.

  5. DVDRemake takes re-authoring to a whole new level - from stripping to reprogramming.

CloneDVD allows you de-select any item you don't want on the final DVD-R.

  8. can clonedvd output the files without compressing them? I would prefer to use dvdshrink to recode the video, unless clonedvd offers better quality...

I don't think so, at least not V1.3, not sure about the newly released V2. If you like to use CloneDVD to remove the extras and DVDShrink to compress, do it the other way around. Shrink first (calculate roughly 4.7G for the stuff you want to keep) and use CloneDVD afterwards.

  11. clonedvd 2 let's me choose the disc size that it will output to, so I choose the maximum size, and output dvd files, and it is doing so now without transcoding.

I'll then run that through dvdshrink.

I'll also do the same movie using only clonedvd2 to check out the quality of it's transcoding engine.
