Can you tell us what DVD yu are trying to backup and the version of SHrink. Are you using DeCrypter first of just Shrink. Just a little more about the process steps.

  4. Try using DVDDecrypter on it first

  5. U must be using XP. That message is from Nero. tons of info on that copy protection thing at dvdshrink.info in forum. I never got around to it so just use another version of shrink.

  6. How is that message coming from Nero when I haven't even began to try and burn it since DVD Shrink won't even analyze the disc.

I tried using DVD Shrink 3.0 and I get the same message .. As for DVD Decryptor it just sits there and does the same thing in its own little way.

  7. Try the following:

Make sure your source disk is clean - I use alcohol to remove fingerprints, dirt, etc.

Use Windows Media player or whatever software you use to play DVDs on your computer. When the movie starts playing, pause it.

Open DVD shrink and then the drive letter that represents the source DVD.

I'm not 100% sure this will help, but I have read threads where some disks will give you this protect error unless you have previously accessed it with a software player. And this has always worked for me whenever I have had this problem.

I am using Shrink 3.1.7.5 and have ripped, shrunk, and burner Identity without any problems. I used Decrypter (3.2.1.0) first and then Shrink, and burned with Nero 5.5.10,19. If you are using these programs, the problem has to be somewhere else.

  9. I cleaned the disc and tried it in a different drive and it seems to be working ok now.

The whole point of Shrink is NOT having/needing to use Decrypter first since shrink decrypts AND compresses. It is odd that both my sister and I are all of a sudden getting copy protection errors using our TDK burners and SHRINK wheras before we burned hundreds of DVD's withoout issues. Now we both have to use Decrypter and DVD2one when Shrink fails us. I can't figure this one out. Very puzzling!
