  1. I'm using V8200 deluxe with P4 1.7 with Widows XP..
The old Asus digital VCR 1.4 doesn't wok in XP, 2.0 can't capture in AVI format, audio doesn't follow the video....drop frames quite a lot.......Asus live doesn't work.....
When I use VirtualDub....drop frames a lot too
when I set the fps to 25+(e.g.25 or 30),the average fps is 25.xxx and drop about 2-3 frames per sec.If I set the fps below 25,the average become 15.xxx and also keep dropping frames ...

moreover.....is there any other driver I can use in Windows XP except Nvidia/Asus WDM?

Use Video Wave 4 to capture in AVI format or use PowerVCR II 3.0 to capture in MPEG1, MPEG2.

  7. I downloaded the drivers from the German site (advcr20b. I was then able to capture.

At first I was amazed that I did not lose any framse at all but then I discovered that the sound was out of synch.

I tried the WDM capture driver with AVIO and I found it lost many frames (unacceptable level).

Does anyone have any suggestions about the sound synch problem?

When my sound gets out of synch its mostly coz the computer is doing more then just ripping, eaven something so little as running ICQ in the background can mess up the sound synch..

  10. I hope i have the solution!
After some experimental test at night i found out, when you change the frame rate in 35 frames per second, you will get a frame rate of 25 fps in virtual dub at recording. You will get drops, but there are not drops you will see.
I tried different resolutions and all the time there was no problem after playing in a video player!
PAL 704x576 and SVCD 480x576 in Perfect image quality!

I just got the Asus V8200 Ti200 Deluxe and cannot get the 1.04 WDM video drivers to detect the capture device. I wrote an email to asus, and they told me to install the drivers I already had, so I know I have the ones that should work for XP. Any clue on why everything works but the capture part of my card?

New drivers allowed me to get my capture part of the card working, I still don't know why the Asus drivers are not working under XP. There are new as of 12/3/01
