  1. Hello all, newbie here and newbie to DVD copying also
I need help in creating a DVD that will play on StandAlone DVD players,

I captured my movie onto my computer, authored the video with Windows Movie Maker 2, I use WMM2 because I can just import the .avi movie I captured into WMM2 and it chops the files into chapters automatically, I can then just delete the chapters I dont need, I can easily drag and drop music and transitions onto scenes, creating MENU was a breeze, etc..

Anyways, after I authored with WMM2 and save the project, file was saved with extension .MSWMM.
What program do I NEED to copy this to a DVD that will play on STANDALONE DVD players while keeping the menu and chapters I created in WMM2 ?

I did a Google/Yahoo search and didnt find anything

microsoft.com/moviemaker site suggests Sonic MyDVD , I have SonicMyDVD 4 but it says the file is NOT SUPPORTED when I try to import and burn it with SonicMyDVD

I tried Adobe Premiere Pro 7 and that also wasnt working.

Thanks ahead for any help/suggestions .

  2. I think you have to render your project first and then open Sonic MyDVD.
I think you only saved it and thats why you have MSWMM extension. I hope this helps

    Thanks for your response

time permitting I'll look for the render button on Windows Movie Maker.

Question 2: Any other DVD authoring software that creates chapters automatically ? WMM2 does this, it detects break points in recorded video and insert the chapters at those points.

    Thanks again.

This as you found out is too early a product to work..
If you've seen the MICROSOPFT site you know the only option is MY DVD 5.0 -IF you already ouput to that MEDIA CENTER FORMAT

otherwise re output as OTHERS ON THIS SITE HAVE TOLD THOSE WHO HAVE THESE FILES..do a forum search and it'll turn up
If you must-- use the MOVIE MAKER--- there's a trick that makes the files PREMIERE COMPLIANT
