I converted and .avi file to m-peg using AVOne which worked fine. Then converted the files to VIDEO_TS. The movie goes onto dvd fine but when I play it on my dvd player the music has a very tinny kind of sound which gets annoying. Can anyone explain to me what I need to do to make the sound normal? Thanks

Just for clarification, I presumed you sampled the audio at 48Khz vice 44.1Khz??
I have used 44.1Khz on DVDs before and the sound is not quuuuite the same as 48Khz but I would not have called it "tinny." But...... check just for a starting point in your quest. -
Hi xxxsarahedwardsxxx,

A) Use VirtualDub to extract the audio from your AVI to WAV - OK for PAL & NTSC land. Lossless but disc-hungry (i.e. takes up a lot of room, leaving less for the video) at 1,536kbps. Or,
B) Use ffmpeggui to encode the audio in your AVI to either:
1. AC3 - I'd say 224kbps. OK for PAL & NTSC land.
2. MP2 - I'd say 224kbps. OK for PAL land, probably OK for NTSC land, but not part of the NTSC DVD spec.
Both formats are compressed with negligible quality loss.
Then, during authoring, mux (jargon for "multiplex" = join) the audio file (WAV, AC3 or MP2) with the video file.
That may help...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
