...the company I work for has a facility to look at the number of hits on any given site, and dvdrhelp.com had nearly 500 in one month.
Not good for me, considering my boss knows I use this site and I'm without doubt the only one that uses it.
    Oh dear!
I have a pretty healthy relationship with the IT guyy at work (who told me) so I don't think it'll go any further, but....
...is there anything I can do, other than somehow have my IT pal reset the stats?
If I open from a link in an email, will it not register as a hit?
If I open via hotmail, will it not register?
I know you folk have no idea what kind of system we're using here, but I was just looking for opinion and yes, I know I could just do some work

  2. Will,

I don't know if this will work, since I am not an IT guy. However. if you replace google.com on the end of this link it will take you wherever, but through Google:

    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=www.blakeneymanor.com/images/blackadder/baldric...url=http://www.google.com

Otherwise, try http://www.the-cloak.com - this will set up an encrypted stream that IT can't see, all they can see is that you have a secure connection to a server. You can cloak your browsing at will, from both your ISP (your work) and whoever is running the site on the other end.

You could also try http://www.megaproxy.com - this does the same thing.

Both are time- and functionality-limited until you pay for them. If you want a free one that does not encrypt your data (less secure, but if all they're tracking is URL hits) try http://www.guardster.com/ - this hashes the URLs and so they can't see where you're going.

Hope this helps alleviate your DVDRHelp Forum withdrawl symptoms,

    Cobra

You could also just open it, leave it open. Most will log the time, but seeing several websites active at the sametime not much should be made of it...especially if they only check it monthly....

like Cobra suggested....you can go different routes. If you have a hotmail address, you can email yourself a link to the site, when you click a link through hotmail, you will still be logged into hotmail.

You can also go to analogx.com and download a little proxy, install it on your workstation PC and go out to the internet through a different port in the server and you won't even be logged at all!!!! Especially useful if your company uses some lame ass proxy like "Bess".

Sorry to hear that Will. Yesterday I didn't see you on at the regular time and I started thinking there may be a little Will running around

We have a firewall at work but we are allowed to surf pretty much at our own discretion. They do have a keyword search on the URL's accessed, for porn, so I have to watch it when I'm downloading midget clown porn

In fact, a few years ago there was an intern here who was very bold in the areas he visited. One day my superior called me in and asked me to take a URL log printout for this guy and look over the addresses to see if anything looked improper. There was one site he visited that had "/myfirstgermancock/" in the URL. He was apparently gay and spent a goodly portion of the day downloading and visiting european gay porn sites. I couldn't lie and say "this one looks OK" since I suspect he had already spotted it and just wanted confirmation. Needless to say the student was invited to turn in his credentials. He blew it because the company was paying his undergrad tuition and would have hired him when he graduated if this hadn't happened. I guess "you pack the fudge ...ya get the nudge"

Would it matter if you only had 1 hit, but 5000 hours spent here? Just leave the browser window open.

If it's anything like where I work, they are still trying to figure out why the mouse won't plug into the audio port.

It's the latter, tgpo has it
Like I say, me and the IT guy are cool.
So, if I open it first thing and use it for half an hour it'll only register one hit?
Doesn't it register everytime you hit a different part of the site, for instance forum, guides etc?
My pal logged in online to the company that provides the support, it was online stats, rather than based on the server, does that help you folks determine what system I'm up against?

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  10. Couldn't you just get a CJB redirecting address (free at www.cjb.net) and call it something like "Will's Relevant Business Site" and just have it pointed at www.dvdrhelp.com?
