Hello. I was wondering how to make chapter selections? I have these DVD authoring programs:

    TMPGEnc DVD Authoring
    NeroVision Express 2
    Nero 6

I am not trying to set a chapter select every 15 minutes or so. I am setting them up by scene. Can the programs above do this? The tutorials I read so far only teaches me to set the chapters by time.

Also, I read in another thread just now that DVD authoring programs might screw up the widescreen? Is this really true? Will IFOedit screw it up? What about that freeware dvdauthorGUI and Nero?

Depending on how you ripped the original DVD....the individual scenes are most likely still intact. Even if you take the main movie only in DVDShrink....the chapters or scenes are kept by default I believe.
TMPGEnc DVD Author is capable of creating menu pages containing the chapters. It's just an available option when creating the menu.
I've never heard of TMPGEnc DVD Author doing anything out of the ordinary with a widescreen movie.

If you need to ADD the scene breaks manually....it is much faster in TMPGEnc DVD Author to TYPE the times in instead of using the slider. This means you will need to watch the files in you computer DVD player and write down the scene break times.

Thanks. Does TMPGEnc DVD Authoring allow original menu creations or do you have to use their templates? Thanks.

My knowledge of TMPGEnc DVD Author is very limited. I'm not really into super fancy menus...as long as they look better than my Philips DVD Recorder menus....I'm a happy guy.
Hopefully someone else can enlighten you with more info.
Hell I just found out today that I can't put full screen and wide screen on the same DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author..

Are you kidding?! I was planning to move my widescreen movie and then add 4 trailers. The trailers are in standard VCD format. I hope it will work.

You can make your own menu template. They are limited to a certain extent, but you do get some flexibility.

You may be able to have widescreen & full screen on the same disc (although I have never tried it). More than likely, you will have to put them in separate tracks.
