I'm looking to buy a new video card. This thing about vivo caught my eye on some of the cards. Am I understanding it right that this vivo port can be used to capture video? If so, what is its transfer rate? Is it the same as capturing via firewire? And I'm also looking at this one:

    http://www.msicomputer.com/product/vga/vga_detail.asp?model=TV5200-VTDF128

    Says it has all this:

    On-board Function
    ? TV-out (S-Video connector)
    ? DVI Connector
    ? Video_in (Composite Video)
    ? TV Tuner (CATV/Antenna)
    ? FM Radio

Can someone please tell me the difference between TV-out, DVI, Video_in and TV Tuner (I can handle the FM radio part )...

I'm really confused... My camcorder has an S-Video port, so I guess that's what that is for,, but the CATV tuner, is that saying I can plug in the cable from the wall into the video card and capture live television?

As you can tell I"m totall lost on all of this (haven't really ever bought a "hi-tech" video card before....It would be nice to be able to capture video from VHS tapes and cable TV, I guess I just need an education..

If you know any good educational websites about all these functions on the video cards, let me know? Any info is greatly appreciated !!

  2. ? TV-out (S-Video connector)

DVI = you can connect to a LCD, Plasma or similar technology thin display

Composite Video In = you can copy or view a video signal using a standard RCA cable.

CATV/Antenna = you can watch and record a TV signal either free to air (analogue antenna)
or a cable television broadcast (analogue cableTV)

VIVO = VideoIn/VideoOut (i.e. send video from computer or receive video from outside source)
