  1. Hello,

I have an external 4x DVD Burner from Pacific Digital. I'm using Verbatim DVD-R's. I'm using DVD Decrypter to burn my DVD-R's.

My problem is that when I read from a DVD-R and then write to a DVD-R the disc wants to freeze up towards the end of the program. It's like it's not reading the last half when it's writing. Does anyone know why this is or how I can fix the problem? It would be greatly appricated. I've recorded other authored DVD's and they work fine. It's just the stuff that's on DVD-R.

    Thanks,
    thebuddy

PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

  4. Try shrinking your movie down a little more to compensate for your possible bad media. Perhaps down to 4.2gig rather then the usual standard of 4.4gig.

  5. I've tried Maxell and got the same results.

I'm not sure if the media is to blame or not. I have a Panasonic Stand Alone Recorder and I use Verbatim discs on that and have no problems what so ever. The discs play fine.

A dumb question: how do I shrink my movie down to a 4.2 gig?

+R disc have about 3,000 fewer sectors than -R. Shrinking is probably the answer. You should be able to use Shrink to rip the -R and then reauthor with a different maximum output size.

  7. I have DVD Shrink. I still don't know how to use it correctly. Is there a turorial that I could go to that would show me how to shrink, rip, and reauthor with a different maximum output size?

Here's a link to get you started. It's the simpliest one I could find but there are several in the guides section og this forum.

    http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=dvdcopy&name=shrink

Specifically what you want is in the Edit-Prefernces tab of Shrink 1.7 where it allows to to set a "custom" output size.
