  1. ok, to start off I've been following a guide I found on this site located https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/166237.php.

Anyway, after converting the PAL video file to NTSC using TMPGEnc, following the instructions provided in the guide, once I try to go and burn it using TMPGEnc DVD Author I receive the error "The Video Resolution 480x480 cannot be used for a standard DVD." and the error "The video framerate 29.97 fps cannot be used with the resolution 480x480."

My question is, that is there a setting in TMPGEnc that I need to change in order for the PAL -> NTSC conversion to create a file that I can actually burn in NTSC format?

I don't know what is causing this problem, but I honestly have been trying to convert this movie for like 4 days and I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the same consistent problems.

Also, if there was a way to convert the 480x480 NTSC mpeg2 I have to one with an appropriate resolution how could I go about doing that? Or is it easier to just re-encode the PAL file?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my wits end.

    Thanks,
    ~Mak

  2. Bloody hell, never mind think I figured it out, I was selecting SVCD NTSC film in my TMPGEnc wizard options.

    I'm assuming it'll work now. . . . and yes . . . I am an idiot.

  3. umm, ok sorry again, but new question.

Using TMPGEnc wizard, when converting PAL to NTSC, (even though my PAL video has no audio) how can I eliminate the wizard from wanting to convert audio from the file as well?

Or will it just "say" it's converting the audio but because there is none, will it not impact the size of the converted file?

The reason being is that I already have the ac3 audio file that I am going to use when I want to burn the NTSC file, so I don't want to bother with the program attemtping to convert the audio when there isn't any.

Do I need to worry about this, or can I just leave the default settings for audio and assume it won't make a difference?

    Please help.

Why don't you simply quit using the wizard if you don't like what it does.
You can convert video only if you select the Elementary stream output

I use the WIZARD MODE myself but when I just want VIDEO with NO AUDIO I do this ...

After the WIZARD MODE is done and TMPGEnc actually starts to encode simply click on STOP

All of your settings are intact.

So just simply click on ES (VIDEO ONLY) under STREAM TYPE

Now click on START and everything will start over from scratch (i.e., the start of the file) but with all your settings and NO AUDIO this time.

Don't forget it will ask to overwright the VIDEO it started to create the first time so answer YES and don't forget to delete the (very small) audio file it tried to start making the FIRST time around.

This way you get the benefit of using the WIZARD MODE

Umm because I don't know how to convert PAL to NTSC without using the wizard, because I have been using the tutorial due to the fact I wouldn't know how to do this conversion with the necessary settings without it.

    Thanks for the help FulciLives
