  1. Hi,

I have an MPEG-2 file that i recovered from a two disc SVCD. I have joined the two files and would like to crop the black bars out of the file.

What program if any can I use to do this?

    thanks

ffmpegX, i believe, or maybe MPEG2Works or Handbrake...
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  3. Actually Cleaner is the best for this but it's also the slowest. It actually lets you visually crop whatever you want.

  4. hmmm...

okay, I'll try ffmpegX.Mpeg2works and cleaner in that order.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. I think DiVa's got the most user-friendly interface for cropping & scaling, but you'd have to save as Quicktime (DV, 3ivX or some other codec), then convert back to MPEG2.

I like the Quicktime method for cropping myself. All visual. DiVa does it excellently too though...
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

  7. Problem:

I don't want to convert it to anything else. I just want to crop the black bars.

ffmpegX - won't crop without conversion that I can see
MPEG2Works - No crop function unless I can't find it
Cleaner - Don't have it, can't buy it (too 'expensive)

What is the quicktime method dead sierra?

  8. Cleaner it will let you see what you want to crop ( actually has handle that you can drag to just how much you want to crop ) and save it in the same format.
